Teen Therapy in Toronto

counselling for teenagers

A space where teens feel heard.

The teenage years bring big changes: pressure at school, shifting friendships, social media, identity and growing independence. When a teen is struggling, talking to someone outside the family can make a real difference. Our therapists create a space where teens feel respected, listened to and in charge of their own goals.

How teen therapy works here

We start with a free 15-minute intake call to understand your concerns and match your teen with a therapist who fits. Sessions are one-on-one with your teen, and we involve parents in a way that supports progress while respecting your teen's privacy. Before therapy begins, we explain clearly what stays confidential and when information is shared. Our therapists draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based strategies, tailored to each teen's needs and interests.

Support for the whole family

When it helps, we can add family therapy or parent coaching alongside your teen's sessions. If questions come up about attention, learning or mental health, our psychologists offer psychological and psychoeducational assessments in the same practice, so you don't have to start over somewhere else.

Signs your teen might benefit from therapy

You know your teen best. It may be time to reach out if you notice:

  • Ongoing worry, panic or avoiding school or social situations

  • Low mood, withdrawal or losing interest in things they used to enjoy

  • Sudden changes in sleep, eating or grades

  • Frequent conflict at home or trouble managing anger

  • Stress about exams, performance or the future

  • Difficulty coping with a family change, loss or difficult experience

  • Concerns about self-esteem, body image or identity

If your teen is in crisis

If your teen is talking about harming themselves or is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

In person or virtual

Many teens prefer the flexibility of virtual sessions, while others do better face to face. We offer both, at four Toronto locations and online, with select weekend appointments.

We can help with:

  • Behaviour problems and emotional regulation

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Trauma and grief/loss

  • Divorce / family separation

  • Unresolved childhood trauma

  • Positive discipline skills

  • Stress Reduction / Mindfulness training
